Last weekend, we took Audrey to the zoo for the first time. We have wanted to go for so long, but we were waiting for the weather to cool down. Finally, we were able to go on Sunday morning. The weather was perfect! We got there as soon as it opened. When we parked and started to get out of the car, we immediately heard the monkeys going crazy. It was so neat to see Audrey's expression. She was so excited! As soon as she heard them she screamed, "Monteys!" We spent the entire morning exploring the zoo and looking at all the different kinds of animals. Aaron and I loved watching Audrey walk up to the short wooden fences, place her tiny hands up on the rail, and then stand on her tip-toes to see what was in each cage. We were only at each location for a few seconds before it was time to move on. She loved the freedom of being able to walk around on her own...with Daddy and Mommy close behind of course. We allowed her to do that, because there was hardly anyone there. Once we had seen every single animal there was to see, we left the zoo and walked across the street to play at the playground and enjoy a yummy picnic lunch. We had such a wonderful family day together and can't wait to see the lions and tigers and bears again.
So excited to see all the animals!
Roar!
Getting a ride from Daddy.
So big!
Checking out the "pink birdies".
I think one of her favorite parts of the day was when we were able to feed the giraffe. She was so brave. I was surprised when the giraffe bent down, super close to us, and Audrey just stuck her leaf right out for the giraffe to grab. The giraffe's tongue practically engulfed Audrey's little hand! But really, she didn't mind a bit. She was sad when we were all out of leaves and had to say, "bye-bye giraffe". Seriously! Look at that tongue. Look closely at Audrey, her tongue is out too.
I love her expression in this one.
Audrey had fun petting the rays with Daddy. She was soaked in seconds!
In the mouth of a hippo.
Audrey and Mommy in the rain forest.
She loved posing for this one.
Running with Daddy in the park, after our yummy picnic lunch.
